Exceptional savings are an obvious advantage for the builder, and Proto II™ has certainly established its value, but there's more to the system than meets the eye. Its better price actually buys a better wall.

• Higher strengths are developed in the overall assembly by the active compression created in the wall when the rods are fully tensioned.

• Thinner walls are possible than would be required by conventional grout/rebar design. For fences, in many cases, six inch conventional can be replaced by four inch wide Proto II™ walls, and eight inch replaced by six inch Proto II™. For retaining walls, 8" can replace 12" or combinations of 12" and 16". This lowers costs in two ways. Thinner cmu are lighter cmu so more of them can be laid in a given period, increasing productivity. Thinner cmu are less expensive than wider cmu, and that difference can amount to significant dollars saved in a large project. Win, win.
• Smaller footings translate into less dirt displacement and less concrete consumption. The builder has less to contend with coming out of the ground and has less to pay for going in the ground.
• No grout or rebar is needed within the post tensioned wall. Eliminating the grouting process saves considerable time, material cost, and coordination delays.
• Non-destruct takedown of fences is possible for after market access to a property. Now that's something no other fence wall can offer. So when the homeowner wants a pool, there's no need to rip out the fence, footings and all, and include that expense in the cost of his oasis. Simply remove the wall cap, loosen the tensioning nut, remove the cmu down to the footing, bend the tension rods to the ground, and leave the footing. To close the access, stand the rods up, lay the block back up (almost all can be reused) and finish per specs, all at a fraction of the cost of a new replacement wall. This is a boon for the homeowner and a tremendous selling point for the builder.
